Networking Card — Do You Have One? And One Important Networking Blunder to Avoid

Networking PR No Comments

Networking at live events can lend powerful fuel to new business opportunities, referrals, and other ways to grow your influence, impact, and income.

One of the biggest networking blunders people make is collecting business cards at networking events and then entering the email addresses into their ezine lists without permission.  This is a sure fire way to annoy someone and invite an unsubscribe in record time.

If your priority is to grow your list, consider creating a card for networking events that showcases an irresistible benefit that people want.  Then, when they return to their office to practice the fine art of FOLLOW UP, they can take the initiative to opt-in because the offer noted is compelling enough to invite action.

Since I am traveling to Dallas to speak at the NSA Winter “Monetize Your Message” Conference the first week of February, I created a networking card that I can share with the wonderful people I meet who can one day become my referral partners, colleagues, and clients.

The front side of the card offers my name, phone number, email, and web address.  The back side of the card — featured here — showcases my photo, “visual credentials” that make me memorable,  and a call to action to enjoy a benefit that many mission-driven experts, speakers, authors, and consultants may find very compelling.   Those who love the call to action are likely going to opt-in to enjoy this “pink spoon” and become part of my community.  Then, it is up to me to share useful information through my ezine to add value to  so they will one day make the wise choice to do business with me.

Do you have a networking card?   If not, create one so you can invite more perfect people into your community and start building winning relationships that will be great for all.

Your Story on Video — How Can It Open Doors for You and Your Business? Let Me Count the Ways … All the Way to the Bank

Video PR No Comments

Video is fast becoming the preferred way that decision makers like to learn and make buying decisions, so have you jumped on the bandwagon yet?

I got started with video marketing last year with the good help from Brad Tollefson and the amazing women at Cimera Video — both based in the Seattle area. I’ll confess.  Figuring out how to use my own video camera isn’t my best event.   In my case, engaging experts to shoot and edit my videos was the easiest way for me to get the mission accomplished in short order.   And, I have since been studying under the capable guidance of Steve Washer to gain even more confidence in my DIY video skills.

What have been my results to date?   They have been excellent, and here are a few specific examples I’ve been able to take the bank:

  • A client from Ireland watched one of my videos and sent me an email to tell me that watching the video helped him know right away that I was someone he could trust.  He bought my book, reviewed it favorably, and has become a powerful advocate of my work.
  • Another student in my group webinar series watched my videos before making the decision to enroll.  She actually called me on the phone to tell me that she knew right away that I was the right trainer for her.  She could just feel it and experience it by the way I shared information, examples, and encouragement in a short video.
  • Speaking invitations to a great many events have come my way from those who have watched my videos to know for sure that my content and delivery style is a perfect fit for their needs.

Since selling books, enrolling people in my group webinar series, and welcoming perfect opportunities to speak are at the top of my priority list to help my business grow, I can tell you without question that video marketing packs a punch.

Google the names noted above if you are looking for quality resources to help you get your video marketing game on in this New Year.   I’ve worked with all three folks and can speak to the quality of their work, and my business thanks them for it!   If you’d like to see some of my videos for BIO WOW NOW, here is a link to make that easy.

And, if you have already created some sassy how-to videos and would like to enter to win VIP tickets to Brendon Burchard’s Experts Academy, the deadline to enter is January 22, 2012.  You can get all the details about this contest at this link.

What Lies Over the Rainbow When You Click Your Heels and Make It So — Visibility, Credibility, Prosperity!

Business Success No Comments

Happy New Year, one and all.

Today I am sharing one of the articles I wrote in December of 2009 that is well worth repeating.  It shares powerful do-it-yourself publicity lessons inspired by The Wizard of Oz to inspire business and success planning for the New Year.  Enjoy and share with others who are ready to fly over the rainbow in 2012 to welcome the visibility, credibility, and profitability they dream of.  The power to make it happen is well within our own control, so go forth and make it so.

  • You don’t have to fly over the rainbow to get much of what you want.  Most of the media coverage you seek to make a difference in your business can be found in your own backyard.
  • Don’t let “blue bird envy” stand in your way.  Wishing and hoping doesn’t get the job done.  Get into action today to earn the attention you seek for your message.
  • Big news always rings loud and clear – Ding Dong the Witch is Dead.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask for  help to get what you need.  Good  witches and mentors are everywhere — if you just ask the local munchkins  for quality recommendations.
  • Along  your yellow brick road to success, don’t settle for  Munchkin  Land when the Land of Oz is what  you really want.  Think big about  what you want to accomplish and the perfect media outlets where you most want  your message to be heard.
  • Celebrate  new media.  If the crystal ball  isn’t delivering the solutions and information you need, find alternative ways  learn what you need to know to carry your message forward.
  • There will be forks in the road and different paths to take along your journey to  DIY publicity success.  Make a  choice, put some spring in your step, and have some fun along the  way.
  • It  takes brains, courage, and heart to make your message stand out.
  • Frame  your story as a horse of a different color so it stands apart.
  • Choose local color to invite memorable and remarkable photo opportunities.
  • You  have to be willing to put up with things that get in your way, like angry  apples, flying monkeys, wicked witches, and sleep-inducing poppies.
  • Put  your best dress on and your best face forward before you make your pitch.
  • Collaborate  with a quality team when making your approach.
  • Never  underestimate the power of a sassy pair of shoes to boost your confidence when  pitching a story or doing anything that really matters in your life.
  • Don’t easily surrender Dorothy.  Be willing to fight for the coverage you want.
  • “Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.” You have more power to make  things happen in your business than you ever thought possible. You just have  to look in your bag of tricks to find the right tools and resources to the get  the mission accomplished. And you have to use them.
  • There  is no place like home. Start your media efforts close to home and grow from there.
  • Earn loyal friends, fans and followers with every step you take.  That will go a long way to lend  strength and momentum to your buzz-building effort here and beyond, today and  forever.
  • As you make your own storytelling plans for the New Year, commit to learning new skills to make sure your message is heard, or add the right members to your winning team to bring an element of magic dust to your success equation.
  • Set  your course, make your plans, and journey forward with quality effort and the  conviction to achieve the media recognition you seek.
  • Just as Dorothy discovered, you can make a lot of magic happen if you just click your heels together and get to work.
