Event Promotion, Seattle Design Center No Comments

The Publici-Tea™ Express “Live” Event in Tacoma last month was such a hit that I’ve decided to take it on the road to serve even more publicity-seeking business owners.   Folks tell me that the shorter event format — just two hours — and the lower price point — $97 —  are exactly what they need right now, so I am delivering.   The new dates and cities so far are as follows from 9:30 a.m. to noon:

  • Friday, September 11 in Seattle
  • Friday, October 16 in Olympia
  • Friday, November 6 on Mercer Island

You can read all about this well reviewed, high value event and register at this link.

And, if you live outside of the Seattle area and still want all the benefit of this event without having to travel, check out the “Anytime, Anywhere” Publici-Tea™ Express. This is a digital download bundle of audio and printed materials that is the next best thing to being there.  You can add your own tea and chocolate and be in DIY publicity inspiration with one click.  At just $49 through July 31, 2009, this is an extraordinary value that also includes a review copy of the new Bye-Bye Boring Bio Action eGuide.

And, if you’d like me to bring the Publici-Tea™ Express to your club, organization, association, or other publicity-seeking group, let me know.  This event can empower people with essentials that truly pack a punch for building the buzz in the traditional, social, and online media, and there is no time like the present to get into the game.

Hope to see many of you at Seattle Design Center tomorrow for the “How to Pitch an Article the Media Can’t Resist and Why You Should” presentation.   Lots of good information to be shared.    Visit the “Third Thursday” link to learn more. See you at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow!

Tasting is Believing – Fieri Gourmet Italian Crackers are Fabulous for the Cheeseboard and Beyond

La Panzanella, PR Beyond the Backyard No Comments

One taste of La Panzanella gourmet Italian snack crackers, and most people are hooked immediately.   Here is a link to the latest blog coverage about this delicious, artisan-made line of flatbreads and how they add delight to the cheeseboard.

Examiner bloggers can be a great resource for sharing your new product news.  Visit Examiner.com and search for bloggers who write about your particular product, expertise, or niche.  Then, make a pitch to suggest why your story is a perfect fit for how they serve their readers.

You just might find — as I did with Long Island Grocery Examiner Stephanie Schandler — that your Seattle area new product news can travel all the way to passionate grocery shoppers in  New York.  Pitching all the holiday gift guides about the new Fieri line of gourmet crackers with sassy world flavors has been fun.  I heard from Real Simple magazine that samples of Fieri are requested.  Another prominent local food writer is asking for samples, too.  Tasting Fieri is believing that the cheeseboard will never again be quite the same and all the better.

If you are a food writer, food blogger, or someone in the gift basket business who is looking for something delicious, sassy, and new to taste and share with your readers or your customers, let me hear from you.  My email is nancy@nsjmktg.com.  My phone number is 425-641-5214.  It will be my pleasure to send samples your way because tasting is believing.

This Bio Showcases the Recipe for Success – Take It Away Tips Booklet Queen Paulette Ensign

Personal Branding, Special Savings No Comments

I’ve been heartened by the great feedback that has been coming in about the new Bye-Bye Boring Bio Action Guide. Today, I heard from Tips Booklet Queen Paulette Ensign, who has a pretty sassy bio of her own to make her speaking introductions delight audiences in her own backyard and well beyond.

Paulette Ensign has personally sold well over a million copies of her own tips booklet, ‘110 Ideas for Organizing Your Business Life,’ without spending a penny on advertising. She did this with no business training, and enough guts and natural irreverence to figure it all out as she went. Her first career was more than a decade of happily teaching string instruments in public elementary schools, before becoming a professional organizer from 1983 until the mid 1990’s after she wrote her booklet. Paulette has unwittingly become The Booklet Queen since writing her booklet in 1991. With a sense of humor and a ‘can-do’ attitude, Paulette shares her experiences with clients and audiences worldwide, through her consulting, speaking, and teleseminar services and products. Many of her clients have matched and surpassed her sales results.

Paulette made a cross-country move from metro New York to a mile from the beach in San Diego, California in 1996 without missing a beat in her business because of the role that booklets play. When asked why she moved, her answer has consistently been “It doesn’t snow in San Diego.” Have fun exploring Paulette’s site at www.tipsbooklets.com.

Please notice that she makes clear her stunning results, sassy sound bites, succinct stories, and some personal information to make it easy for potential clients to connect with her. You know right away — one way or the other — if she is the expert you want to engage. That, my friends, is the recipe for bio success.

Paulette offers these glowing words of praise for “Bye-Bye Boring Bio Action Guide”

“Nancy Juetten has provided an excellent solution for the many professionals who need to blast their boring bio into oblivion forever. Her clear, simple, comprehensive approach is nothing short of magical. It’s just the right number of words with just enough examples to make this a must-have for anyone who needs to let their world know a slice of who they are and what they bring to the party.”

— Paulette Ensign,www.tipsbooklets.com

Thanks Paulette.

By the way, you can purchase the review copy of this new guide for just $29 through July 31, or you can invest a bit more ($49) to enjoy the “Anytime, Anywhere Publici-Tea™ Express Digital Download which includes the Bye-Bye Boring Bio Action guide within the comprehensive bundle of written and audio information. Either way, these are fabulous values for the investment. This $49 offer for the “Anytime, Anywhere” digital download  expires August 31, 2009.  Enjoy!

Niche Magazines and Publications Deserve Small Business Owner Consideration and Support

Be Heard 1 Comment

This blog is all about do-it-yourself publicity, and there is no doubt about it.   I am a huge advocate for sharing stories that are worthy of being told with a bias toward earning free editorial consideration.

I got a call a few weeks ago from Michele McGehee, publisher of Sound Sound Woman Magazine, offering a point of view that is worthy of your consideration — especially if you are a small business owner seeking free publicity in the South Sound region.

Sound Sound Woman magazine is a niche publication that is distributed in the South Sound, including Thurston, Lewis, Pierce and Mason counties.  The magazine’s website reports that 15,000 people read the magazine each month.   The mission of the magazine is to inform, empower, and connect.

McGehee tells me that she receives 200 story pitches each month from worthy businesses that have relevant and interesting stories to tell.  The magazine on any given month may offer 48 or more pages of quality editorial, calendar listings, and features — in addition to paid advertisements from area businesses.

McGehee says that there is no possible way that a niche publication such as this can cover all the great stories that can be told.   When the rubber meets the road, those local companies that support the magazine with their advertising dollars certainly have a story placement advantage.

Publications that are free to the public or offered on a modest subscription fee basis like South Sound Woman magazine need the support of advertisers to survive and thrive.   It takes money to pay photographers, freelance writers, and cover the costs of mailing and distribution.  It’s just that simple.

Media habits continue to evolve.  People are relying more and more on the internet for news and information.  Daily newspapers continue to struggle in their efforts to retain paid subscribers.   Editorial teams are shrinking.  That means that there are fewer business reporters and fewer media placement opportunities to assign to small business stories.  The reason why is that most of the “real estate” is designated to cover bigger businesses that are creating a mightier marketplace impact.

Small business owners who want their stories told in their own backyards and beyond need to consider how niche publications like South Sound Woman magazine can factor into their buzz building plans.  That may require investing in a paid advertising campaign within the magazine, and it’s definitely something to consider.

After all, those who do business in the local marketplace need to buy local and support those companies that support them.   It’s the law of reciprocity.   It’s a fact of life.

As much as we would all like to earn attention within the pages of the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, or the leading daily newspaper in our community, sometimes, we don’t have the right story angle or hook to command that attention.  That is why niche newspapers and magazines can play a role — especially for small business owners.

Am I a huge proponent of free publicity?  You bet.  McGehee offers an equally valid perspective that is worthy of your consideration.

Care to weigh in on this topic?  I’d love to hear from you.

Should You Pay for Classes When So Much Good Information is Available for Free?

Blogging Basics, Business Success 2 Comments

One of my loyal blog readers connected over the weekend to ask me if I had any insider information about the value of a top blogger’s training course to pass along to help guide her decision.  That got me thinking about the difference between free courses and those with fees attached in my own experience.

Like many business owners, I spend my money carefully.   I have a strong do-it-yourself bias, so if there is a way for me to learn how to do what needs to be done without paying the big bucks, I am usually first in line to take that route.   There is plenty of false economy in this approach, and I am first to admit it.

However, there have been a number of times over the last eight years that I have struggled to solve important problems in my business and made the decision to invest in quality coaching, support, or tools to help me reason through the difficulties and come out rosier on the other side.   In every case, I had “skin in the game.”  I invested hard-earned dollars with exceptional professionals and their programming.  I did the hard work required to make the dollars pay off.  In every case, I earned a new colleague and advocate of my work in the process. My business was ultimately better for every dollar I invested.

Every one of the people I hired is someone whose work I followed through an ezine, a blog, a free seminar, or some other convenient way to gain access to their expertise without breaking the bank.  As I learned more about each and gained value from the quality information they generously provided for free, my confidence grew in how they could customize their solutions to ease the specific problems in my business for a fee.   When people I liked, trusted, and respected added that these same individuals added value to their business, my own decision to “get to YES” was a lot easier.  Here are three examples:

Henry DeVries – New Client Marketing Institute — Henry’s coaching helped me double my business in six months and attract more perfect clients to my door.  Enough said.

Paulette Ensign – Tips Booklets Coaching and Tips Booklets Information Products.  I am preparing for a third printing of my popular and well-reviewed Authentic Visibility Publicity Tips Booklets as I type this message.  Thousands of people are benefiting from useful tips that have helped them get on the front page of their hometown newspaper all the way to the pages of USA Today in exchange for their $10 investment.  Hiring Paulette was a very good decision.

Patricia Fripp – Patricia Fripp Speaking School – The single best investment I’ve made to improve my skills and presentation as a professional speaker.  People who have known me for years and saw me in action “before” and “after” taking Patricia Fripp’s course have seen a positive difference in powerful action.

If you believe the truism that the rising tide lifts all boats, you are wise to invest in training courses with exceptional professionals who can smartly guide your business to achieve a more rapid growth trajectory to the success you seek.

Many professionals offer free ezines, frequent, free and insightful blog posts, and free or low fee e-books to guide your journey.   Many of them are of very high quality.  If folks are willing to give away or sell for a modest fee remarkable and useful information, just what bounty might be waiting when you elect to invest in services that are customized specifically to address your needs?

When you INVEST in very specific programming that solves a real problem that is standing in the way of your success, you INVEST the time and effort to make certain the problem gets solved.  Having “skin in the game” makes a huge difference in the actions you decide to take every day.

So, loyal blog reader who wants to know if I have any insider information about whether Yaro Starak’s blog course is a good investment, I have this to say about that.  His free “Blog Mastermind Blueprint” manifesto is among the best, highest value free resources I have ever read on the topic of monetizing your blog.  I’ve read it from cover to cover several times and recommend it frequently to others who are serious about creating a sustainable business out of blogging.

Given the quality of the information he shares for free, I have no doubt that his paid course is well worth whatever fee he is charging.   If monetizing your blog is a priority, you’ll make every moment of time and money you put forth in this course to deliver value where you need it most because you have “skin in the game.”

So go forth and invest in the products, coaching, tools, and resources you need to most to get your business where you know it can go.    And don’t be afraid to put some “skin in the game” because the rewards you reap will likely be well worth the time, money, and investment you make to benefit.  Your business will be better for it.
